Bitumen seal is constructed by compacting gravel or road base then applying a prime coat sealing membrane. Hot bitumen is sprayed over the prime coat where a pre-coated stone is then spread over the top. This is then rolled and another layer of hot bitumen sprayed over the first layer. A smaller sized stone is added and the surface rolled to a smoother finish. Bitumen seal is a cost-effective solution when compared to asphalt or concrete.
Orford Bitumen offers hot spray bitumen sealing – used for roads, carparks, driveways, truck and equipment yards.
Moisture getting into and underneath surfaces causing cracks is the biggest cause of asphalt and bitumen surface failure. Orford Bitumen offer crack sealing as a maintenance measure to minimise water penetration and potential damage to existing surfaces.
Crack sealing is a cost-effective and practical way of preserving your driveway, road or car park and can be applied to asphalt, bitumen and concrete surfaces. We use various types of crack sealant, although hot rubber is our preferred choice. The hot rubber dries quickly, is flexible and allows for vehicle and pedestrian access as soon as it is applied.
